Wages grew and industrialisation happened very fast. The period roughly follows the end of the Civil War in America in 1865 to the turn of the twentieth century, and was a period of huge economic growth, especially in the north and west of the US. Gilded Age definitionīefore I share the books I have my eye on to immerse myself more in this period of history, I thought I’d explore what the “gilded age” actually means.
